Security, Guide, and Sustainer

The cameras connected to a CCTV network represent the pinnacle of human surveillance systems. While such systems can provide guidance and surveillance, they remain deeply limited. CCTV is limited in foreknowledge, provision, execution, and protection.

The CCTV system highlights a major constraint in our reliance on human systems. Human systems are largely anticipatory and reactive, based on historical records or immediate perception.

In sharp contrast, God is all-knowing, ever-present, proactive, resourceful, unlimited in abundance, perfect in justice, and infallible in protection. Hence, our confidence in God is never misplaced (Romans 10:11). God is our security, guide, and sustainer.

Hanani the seer beautifully captures this reality in his rebuke to King Asa when King Baasha of Israel invaded Judah. In essence, he told King Asa: rather than relying on limited and compromising human systems, rely on the unfailing and all-powerful God who is generous in His benevolence and excellent in all His ways (2 Chronicles 16:9).

God is our security, guide, and sustainer.

In this new month, I simply want us to appreciate and fully embrace God as our security, guide, and sustainer. Let us open our hearts and minds to His instructions and directions. Let us trust God for His provision and faithfulness. Let us rest, knowing that He is actively fighting our battles. Let us remain confident that He is our impenetrable fortress and shield.
