CLM New Month Message August 2026

OUR BANQUET

Recently, I attended an annual convention. There was plenty to eat, plenty to drink, and loads of wine to take home. It was a lavish banquet, and it gave me a glimpse into how the Shulamite woman, the bride, raved about her beloved shepherd-king, the groom. She said:

“He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.”
Song of Songs 2:4

In similar fashion, Christ has brought all who believe in Him into a great banquet. Our banquet.

In Matthew 22:1–14, we see the invitation of a king to a wedding feast. By accepting His invitation, we are no longer beggars peering through palace windows, wondering whether there is a place for us.

Through Christ, the Great Banquet has become Our Banquet.

He has carried us across the threshold, stripped away our stained rags, and clothed us in His own righteousness.

Christ gave Himself up for us, washed us clean, and presented us to Himself in jaw-dropping splendor.

You belong at the table.
You belong in His presence.

So, in this new month, may we walk in full consciousness of what Christ has accomplished for us. May we rest in His goodness, enjoy His grace, and live with the quiet confidence of those who are thoroughly nourished, deeply cherished, and eternally home.

He has raised His banner over us:
“You are Mine.”

“He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.”
Ephesians 5:25–27 (NLT)
