We are the Goal God Celebrates
Goal celebrations are one of my hallmarks of watching a football (or soccer) game. The elation, sheer joy, creativity, laughter, drama and sometimes dancing, could be quite mesmerizing in itself. Seeing the team on the pitch, the crew on the bench and the fans in stands all celebrating in unison is quite a spectacle.
As I thought about the spectacle of celebrating goals, Jesus’s parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32 came to mind, especially verse 21 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.” Jesus was painting a picture of how God celebrates the goal of his salvation for our lives. We are the Goal God Celebrates! God runs to us when He sees us come to Him. More than that, he ran to us even when we never wanted Him (Romans.5:8) and He never turns his back on us (Hebrews 13:5).
As we start this month, please let us carry ourselves and conduct our lives as Goals being celebrated. This is how the Father sees us!
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” Roman 8:37 (NLT)
Prayer Request: Please pray for a great BFS in Abuja this weekend. We want to celebrate a lot of goals!!! Amen!!
