Be At Your Sunday Best!

Growing up, we had a practice of keeping out special outfits as our Sunday best. Outfits that were bought at a premium price and required special attention for maintenance.These outfits were not worn “carelessly” but on Sundays or for “special” events.

Our distinguished class as Heaven’s citizens is quite similar to the special cadre of the “Sunday best.” We are bought at a premium price – the blood of Jesus Christ – and we have a special status with God our Father – we are joint heirs with Christ Jesus.

As we embark on this new month, I want us to always be at our Sunday best. For we are a special breed, holy nation, a powerful army, and a generous tribe. Be at your Sunday best!

And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
